To those who have solicited funds and pledges, please hand over your collections to Bernie and Belen Consul after the prayer meeting tonight.  To those who have not been able to work on the pledges and solicitation of funds, there is still time to do so.  For more details, please get in touch with Bernie and Belen on how to remit the money collected in time for the WALK.

From the Golf Tournament Organizing Committee

From threatening rain, to beautiful, balmy and sunny weather, this was the order of the day at last Sunday's BLD Golf Tournament at Lionhead Golf and Country Club. The player turnout, the enticing 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV hole-in-one prize, the perfect weather, the inspiring talk by the Piamontes and Youth members, and the sumptuous dinner, all contributed to a very enjoyable and successful BLD Charity Golf Tournament.  It's just unfortunate that no one got the hole in one prize!

Our heartfelt thanks to the golfers who participated, the generous sponsors and donors, and the overwhelming response from our community for door prizes. Every single player came home with a prize. Most of all , we thank the Lord for making this fundraising event a success for the benefit or our Youth Ministry, who will be travelling this weekend to Long Island, New York for the Youth Interdistrict Conference. Thank you & God bless.

If you or someone you know has a business and would like to advertise it to the BLD Toronto members, please pick up a form downstairs at the basement from the Singles Ministry table.  All the funds raised will help us in hosting the first BLD (North America) Singles Inter-District Conference which will be held in Toronto on September 3-5, 2010.  We thank you in advance for your help.

This is a reminder to everyone that on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, our Global Spiritual Director Archbishop Lagdameo will be conducting an evening Recollection from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.at the OLA Church. The recollection will be concluded by a Eucharistic Celebration.

Light dinner will be served from 7:00 pm at the OLA Basement Hall. The Recollection is open to everyone. We encourage everyone to attend. The Archbishop is looking forward to meet with all of us.

1)  August 7, 2010 is the traditional Filipino Pilgrimage to the Martyrs Shrine in Midland, Ontario.

BLD is a strong supporter of this collective pilgrimage.

We therefore encourage everyone to support and attend this Pilgrimage.
We will be joining the OLA Bus under the banner of BLD. The Formation Apostolate through the Intercessory Ministry has been assigned to
coordinate the bus reservation with Our Lady of Assumption.

Bus fare is $25/person (includes Shrine entrance and bus driver tip). One bus
can seat 48 persons. Assembly at OLA is at 6:30am;

Bus leave at 7:00am and returns to OLA from the shrine 4:30 pm.

Please see Ed & Cristy Samson, or their Intercessory Ministry representative to register and pay your Bus Fare.

The DCS will be joining the Pilgrimage.

2) Our Global Spiritual Director, Archbishop Lagdameo will be coming for a Pastoral visit to the BLD Toronto District, in August 10 to 12, 2010.

He will be giving an evening Recollection on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 7: 00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Our Lady of Assumption Church.

This Recollection is open to everyone.

We encourage everyone to attend the Recollection and be enriched spiritually. 

From the Youth Ministry:
 
July 23, 24 & 25, 2010. YE # 12 – We thank and praise the Lord for a very successful Youth Encounter No. 12 weekend with 42 candidates from Toronto and St. Catharines.  It was indeed an awesome sight to see all the young people actively participating as candidates or as working team members with so much enthusiasm and lots of energy inspite of the sweltering heat on the weekend.  We thank all our brothers and sisters in the community for assisting us during the weekend, for your donations and most of for all your prayers.   Thank you Tito Ed and Tita Lu for your endless assistance, guidance and support.  To all our adult members, sponsoring class, auxies and facilitators - thank you for all your hardwork and for a job well done.  All our sleeplessness, tiredness and sweats have been wiped away when one of the graduates said:  "This weekend has renewed my faith."  To hear these words is priceless .

August 13, 14 & 15, 2010 - Youth Interdistrict Conference - Long Island  A friendly reminder: If your child is a participant, we suggest that you check with the Youth Ministry if all the requirements have been met and to pick up some information about the weekend.  Please bring your child's notarized letter of consent and show his/her passport to the Youth Ministry tonight.  Next Friday is the last day to provide the required documents.  Please pray for all of us who will be travelling to attend the YIDC.

From 20th Anniversary Celebration Committee:

The FORMATION APOSTOLATE is scheduled to showcase their banners on Friday, August 6, 2010.  The parade will start promptly at 8:00 p.m. followed immediately by Mass.

Formation is to be coordinated by the Apostolate DCS and Ministry Heads.  There will be a brief podium introduction of the Apostolate and Ministries. Each Ministry should quietly wait for their queue and promptly enter the Church as soon as their Ministry is announced. 

From the Life in the Spirit Apostolate

The LSS # 25 Grand Reunion will be tomorrow, July 24th at the Assumption Church Parish Hall.  Invitation is extended to all Lambs, Shepherds, Co-shepherds, Pastoral Team, Working Team and all those who have helped for the success of our LSS.

Registration starts at 10:00AM, followed by Eucharistic Celebration at 10:30AM. Lunch is at 11:30AM. Testimonies from some of the LSS # 25 graduates will start at 1:00PM. At 3:30PM, there will be an exhortation from the DCS of Evangelization Apostolate.

July 23, 24 & 25, 2010. YE # 12 – May we request for your prayers for all participants in our YE # 12 starting tonight, especially our candidates, our facilitators and our priest, Fr. Tito Ignacio. For those who have candidates, may we remind you to please bring the love letters from the parents and siblings no later than Saturday at the venue.   It is very important that each candidate receive a love letter from their parent(s).  Parents/guardians of candidates, it is very important for you to be present for your child at 11:00 am on Sunday at Mt. Mary.  We need you for the last session.  Please register with the Youth Ministry members upon your arrival at the venue.

The Singles’ Ministry

I.   The Singles’ Ministry invites you to an afternoon of bowling, fun and fellowship.  BOWL-A-THON, is a fundraising event to help raise funds for the upcoming Singles Inter-District Conference. It will be held on July 25th, 2010 from 2:30pm – 5:30pm at Playtime Bowl in Toronto. It is open to everyone (BLD members, families, and friends). In order to register, participants must collect pledges.  Participants who raise at least $50 in pledges will get complimentary bowling fees, shoe rental, pizza and pop.  This event is open to anyone interested, including non-BLD members.  For more info and to pick up a pledge form, please visit the Singles Ministry SIC table downstairs in the basement.

II.    Also, the Singles Ministry are seeking volunteers for hosting the Singles from all over BLD North America when they come to Toronto for the SIC which will be held on September 3-5, 2010  If you wish to volunteer or for more info, please visit the Singles Ministry SIC table downstairs.
